Hi, BJ. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. It's interesting to see that you seem to be switching from paints to fabric. Your dyed pieces are very interesting, lots of possibilities. I look forward to following your projects. Have fun with the mending and happy holiday stitching! best, nadia
Nadia, thanks for stopping by again! I always enjoy seeing what projects you've been working on, too. I'm usually thinking about or doing something creative and the medium/media seems to be cyclical...sewing, fabric painting, tie-dying, acrylic/oil painting on canvas...and now it seems the cycle is bringing me back to working with fabrics. It's easier to 'go with the flow' of what feels creatively right (for me) than to stay with the same thing for a long time. As far as mending goes, my Grandmother taught me to redo, repurpose, restore...and don't throw anything away if it can be reused in any way. And the older an object gets, the more personality it seems to get. If it breaks, then it's time to give it a new life as something else...you know how that goes.
Barb, thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment :o) I visited your blog(s) and...wow...you are indeed creative and apparently really busy. I'll be sure to visit again :o)
Jude, thanks so much for taking time to visit my stitching blog! I've learned so much from Spirit Cloth. Sometimes little surprises lurk where we least expect them...thanks for pointing that out to us.
Thanks, Deanna...my hubby doesn't suspect that he's wearing an unfinished Santa on his work jeans. I visit your blog often, and I appreciate your work and your insight into 'thread stuff'. I hope you stop by again soon. Thanks again :o)
Libby, thanks for stopping by :o) Whenever I mend, I remember my grandmother --- sitting there with her sewing basket, stitching and saving that garment to be worn again. I guess that's where I get my "save it, reuse it, repurpose it" mentality.
